For the Winslow area, the Town Council understands there is little of local significance in the proposals, other than the plan to use discontinuous electrification to power new battery-hybrid electric trains on the route in due course. This will involve trains that can move under electric power "under the wire" where it exists, and at the same time can charge their batteries from the same overhead wire, so they will then use battery power where there is no overhead electrification. Some short sections of overhead electrification will be needed on new sections of track, but trains will run on most of the new track under battery power.
The nearest consultation event to Winslow will take place at Steeple Claydon Village Hall on 26 November, between 2pm and 7pm. Or see the poster for other locations and times.
